“My mom was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer and I was her primary caregiver. Each time I stepped into Wellness Place, I took something of great value out the door. In this long and frightening journey, I felt safe, understood, validated, and comforted at Wellness Place. I found many realistic suggestions that I was able to implement right away. It enabled me to break my mental paralysis and take action to help myself in addition to my mom. I learned and grew with the guidance of amazing, knowledgeable facilitators as well as many wonderful participants that shared the link of loving someone with cancer. We helped each other and in doing this helped ease our own fears and anxieties.
I truly believe that Wellness Place has helped me navigate through so many deeply personal and stressful obstacles. I have learned many important things from the very practical facts about cancer, health care, medications, and communication with doctors, to the more personal, such as taking care of myself, acknowledging my feelings and the feelings of my loved one, and ways to cope with the unique challenges of my situation.
I hope that I never have cancer touch a loved one again. If I do, I know where I can go to get the support that we all need and deserve. No one should have to face this alone and thanks to Wellness Place no one needs to.”
