
Discussion and Support Groups
Cancer related discussion and support groups provide a confidential atmosphere for cancer survivors, family and caregivers to discuss issues related to the illness. Discussions may include: emotional needs created by cancer; practical problems such as managing side effects; and maintaining a balance between work, family and treatments. All interactive groups are facilitated by licensed professionals unless otherwise indicated.*

Advanced Prostate Cancer Info Group ~ Russ Gould *
Personal experiences, side effects, treatment strategies, results, education and concerns will be shared.
Bereavement Support Group ~ Kathy Scortino, RN, MA, LCPC
This group will offer emotional support, education and sharing opportunities for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one to cancer.
Breast Cancer Support ~ Kathy Hill, RN, MS, LCPC
Join us as we share information and discuss topics related to breast cancer ranging from body image and intimacy, to emotions and communication.
Creative Healing Group - Adult Art Therapy ~ Lori Mackey, MA, AR-BC, CCLS
This 6-week group for adults in active treatment or recently finished with treatment provides opportunities for self-expression and healing through art. Methods to be explored include drawing, painting, collage, and photography.
Family/Friends/Caregivers ~ Kathy Scortino, RN, MA, LCPC This group addresses specific issues faced by those in a supportive role in the cancer survivor’s life.

“This group provides a time to share personal experiences and common concerns. Contrary to popular belief, men do communicate and they network.” Group Facilitator is Charlie Stephens, a two-time, 18 year cancer survivor.
Prostate Cancer Video Lectures

This group discusses prostate cancer from a woman's perspective and will offer education and support for women coping with their partners prostate cancer.

Often our spirituality can be a source of personal growth, strength, and connection with others. It can provide us with help and healing. Join us for discussions about books that may bring new insights to our spirituality.

Life after cancer treatment presents the challenge of finding your "new normal" while also addressing the expectations of family, friends and employers. Join others to explore common experiences, share successes, and learn effective ways of working with your doctors to develop a long term health care plan.
CHILDREN/TEEN AND PARENT INTERACTIVE GROUPS

Parent Bereavement:
A group for parents who have lost a child (infant to 18) to cancer.
Pediatric Oncology Parent Networking Group:
An interactive discussion and support group for parents who have a child currently in treatment or who recently has completed treatment. Children ages 5-18 are welcome to attend for supervised activity by an art therapy intern or Wellness Place volunteer.
Siblings - One SIBsational Evening:
In recognition of the important role siblings have when their brother or sister is diagnosed with cancer, siblings ages 5-12 gather to create an art project as a visual reminder of their strengths and unique qualities.
STARS - Sharing Together and Receiving Support:
An art and play support group for children ages 6-12 who have a loved one with cancer in their family
